Wyoming Catholic College
Steeped in Wonder, Formed in Wisdom

Collegium.png

Wyoming Catholic College forms students through a rigorous immersion in the primary sources of the classical liberal arts tradition, the grandeur of the mountain wilderness, and the spiritual heritage of the Catholic Church. Grounded in real experience and thoughtful reflection, our graduates love truth, think clearly, and communicate eloquently, engaging with the world as it is.

Wyoming Catholic College takes its distinction from the landscape that is both its location and its symbol. Situated in the foothills of the Wind River Range, the college is grounded in the strata of ancient wisdom and inspired by belief in an ascent to truth discoverable by effort and discipline; here the ancient Western tradition of the liberal arts merges with the uniqueness of the American West. Faculty and students alike rejoice in the beauty that surrounds them and in the generous givenness of creation. In an age when individuals are encouraged to believe they are sovereigns over their private worlds, the curriculum looks outward to perennial shared realities, both in nature and in the riches of culture.

WCC has not yet celebrated its 20th year but it is already boasting a student body numbering nearly twice as many as those of other older-established Newman Guide colleges.

High School students should consider attending a PEAK Summer Program to best experience life at WCC.

The Discernment Process

Discerning the best college for our children should begin with a basic premise:  We are Catholic and have devoted our lives to raising our children in the Faith, so we should therefore begin by considering our good, faithful, Catholic Colleges.

An eighteen-year-old may technically be an adult, but to sum-up what a well-known expert in this area has said, these are "new adults" and shouldn't be expected to navigate the overwhelming barrage of anti-Catholic, anti-Christian sentiment and activity they would likely endure at a secular college.

Why wouldn't we want them to continue our children's formation in a good, faithful, Catholic college atmosphere, reading original texts, steeping themselves in all the splendor that our Faith and religious traditions offer, while further discerning their path in life and coming into their own as full-fledged adults?

As Catholic home educators, discerning college must begin with first educating ourselves as to the best, truly Catholic colleges available, and then educating and guiding our children to prayerfully choose one of those colleges for themselves -- and this begins with The Newman Guide to Recommended Catholic Colleges. Equally as important as seeing which colleges are on the list, is seeing which are not and that should lead you to asking, "why not?"
